The BIT ELD-HS is for medium duty vehicles and drivers hauling hot shot loads. The adapter plugs into the vehicle's OBD-II port under the dashboard. It works with Apple and Android devices. Your smartphone/tablet must have GPS and be capable of connecting to the internet while stopped at a roadside inspection to be compliant with the ELD mandate.

The BIT ELD-HS does not work with all vehicles that have OBD-II ports. It currently is not intended for heavy duty vehicles or vehicles that do not have CAN networks (generally vehicles before 2008 or Fords before 2005).

The 6-pin connector is generally found on older vehicles. This ELD adapter is compatible with any vehicle that has a 6-pin connection. It works with both Apple and Android devices. Do you have a Kenworth or Peterbilt truck with a PACCAR engine and a green diagnostics port? If yes, then you will need this adapter. PACCAR changed the wiring used for their new engines. You might be able to mount this adapter behind your kick panel or consider using this adapter with our 9-Pin Y-Cable listed above.

Volvo and Mack have moved to using OBD-II ports in their newer trucks. This adapter allows existing diagnostics test equipment, ELDs, or other devices with J1939 connectors to work with these newer trucks. This adapter exposes both the J1939 CAN port and the J1708/J1587 serial port.

If your diagnostic port is aimed toward your legs and you would rather not be kicking your ELD all of the time then this short OBD-II extension cable is perfect for you. It uses right-angle connectors so that it does not stick out and you can twist the cable in to any direction you need.
